Work, not a slogan
Belief is free. A second legal system is not. If you want one set of rights for every person here, the work is laws, hearings, audits, and shelters — not harassment of neighbors.
Read Sharia as law, In the U.S., and the FAQ. If you cannot say “Muslims are equal citizens” and “harsh punishments and male control of women do not match equal rights” in the same breath, you are not ready to speak for this project.
Check whether your state bans FGM, sets marriage at 18, and has a rule that names rights, not a religion. Gaps in state law are how a second family system hides. Start with the policy asks.
A one-page letter to your state representative and senator beats a comment thread. Ask for: a public judge to review religious family rulings; tracking of FGM and forced marriage; no public money for programs that teach girls they have fewer rights. Find them at the state legislature directory and the U.S. House.
